Palm invests in own energy generation

Palm believes in generating energy by investing in Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) at all five of its paper mills.

The implementation of two new CCGTs at the production sites in King’s Lynn (UK) and Descartes (France) began in 2016. The newly installed turbines will be started up in 2018 with the aim to provide the total energy usage of both these paper mills. These efficient turbines, operating at a rate of 90%, will ensure that the required energy and steam demands are generated for the paper production. The projects will also result in reductions in the respective carbon footprints at both mills and further endorses our commitment to the protection of the environment. Environmental friendly gas turbine power plants were built and commissioned at the German sites in Eltmann and Wörth in 2007.
