The German packaging award is the most renowned competitive exhibition for the world of packaging in Europe. The award is advertised under the sponsorship of the Federal Minister for the Economy and Energy and has been distinguishing the best solutions and innovations in various categories since 1963. In addition to the packaging award, a Gold packaging award has also been awarded since 2016. The organiser of the competitive exhibition is the Deutsche Verpackungsinstitut (dvi) in Berlin.
